Portobello Law School hit by resignations
By Kieron Wood
A number of law lecturers have resigned from Portobello Law School following an investigation by the company’s owners into staff complaints.
Portobello was acquired by Dublin Business School (DBS) two years ago. DBS, which is owned by the US-based company Kaplan, has more than 9,000 students, of whom 300 are studying law.

Senior Kaplan academics investigated academic and management practices in the law faculty, and DBS marketing director Cliona O’Beirne said the working group found ‘‘room for improvement in certain processes and procedures’’.
O’Beirne said steps were being taken to address the issues, but she said there were ‘‘no substantiated allegations of bullying, and we refute any such suggestion’’.
