University of Chicago Law names new dean

This just in: Michael Schill, dean of the UCLA School of Law, will become the new head of the University of Chicago Law School.

The school, one of the nation’s most highly regarded law schools, announced the appointment Tuesday. Schill, who will start Jan. 1, replaces Saul Levmore, who has been the dean since 2001.

Levmore announced earlier this year his intention of stepping down to return to full-time scholarship.

Schill, a scholar in property law, spent five years at UCLA, according to a University of Chicago news release.
